Parenting.

Not the easiest thing in the world is it?

Even if you’re Ben White from Kidmunication!

There’s a whole bunch of interesting child and parenting related research articles I’ve scalped for you today that are interesting, challenging and you know what –  mostly downright common sense.

Here’s the first:

Parents’ stress leaves lasting marks on children’s genes, researchers find

While I did not know that effects at a genetic level were capable, it does make a bunch of sense that what kids see and are the middle of effects them.

V.S Ramachandran – Rock Star Neurologist has written a book that speaks at length and depth on Mirror Neurons (the latest buzzword in piss-poor goddamn new age hippy Law of Attraction morons). For more real stuff on Mirror Neurons, This is a great read:

Back to the boffins then.
The second and third bits of research are Mum-Centric:

Secure attachment to moms helps irritable babies interact with others

Mother-son ties change over time, influence teen boys’ behavior

See, is it me of is this stuff just obvious? It’s nice for a geek like me to actually see honest to goodness traditional family values validated like this however.

And, just so the Dad’s don’t miss out there’s this:

Fathers’ presence linked to enhanced intellect, well-being among children

So then, the great and the good from the scientific community have now proved  that it’s good for kids to have a loving Mother, and or a loving Father.

Who knew?

After the riots, I’m interested on how many of the offenders would consider that they had one or both of these?
What do you think they’d say?

Guess I’m going to have to play the Dora the Explorer interactive book with fold out map and plastic characters.
Fine…. Great…. Whatever….

But *only* if I get to play Swiper the Fox

Kleptomania Treatment with Hypnotherapy in London & Essex

Here’s the one I bought from Costco today –  this link isn’t costco, but seems the only place to buy it online
