Ah Jeez.

As I’ve mentioned before, I check the headlines pretty much every day to see what’s going on in the world of all manner of Brain and Hypnosis related stuff!

Today was a bit of a clanger. I found an article, related only by the fact they’re about Hypnosis.

Firstly, was a case of a Colombian Magician/Hypnotist who was part of a fun day at a school –  clowns –  all that.

Had a whole bunch of kids in the show Hypnotised, had them doing the usual stuff, barking like chickens, crying like babies and the usual stuff you see on that kind of show.

Good Great. then they’re all ushered back to classroom and BANG! En Masse Panic Attack!
41 kids going into full on Panic Mode. Thing is, only one of that number actually went on stage and got Hypnotised!

Hypnotherapy is safe not dangerous in Woodford Essex and London

Mass Hysteria brought about by prospect of double Maths? Who knows.

Did he mess up somewhere? Not sure – he was an experienced guy.

Has this helped endear Hypnosis to the Colombian people? Hell no –  he’s actually been accused of Witchcraft for cripes sakes!

And this is the problem. When stuff like this happens it does nothing for the cause of  Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy –  and it doesn’t matter if it’s in Columbia, London, Essex or bloody Timbuktu – there’s enough bad press about what can be much maligned and effective treatment for a whole ton of issues and problems, but when you see things like this –  it’s head in hands time for me.

“So why are you helping to spread this bad press”

Well, I insist on transparency.

And as a Hypnotist and someone providing Hypnotherapy to people, if I can’t be open about the tool that I use, it’s a sad day!

Here’s the TV report (in Spanish)
