With every week that goes by, I see more and more clients for Anxiety issues.

While the structure or the ‘recipe’ for creating the anxiety is often quite similar, the different things that feelings of anxiousness will ‘attach’ itself to are numerous.

Travel, work, relationships, sports, almost anything can appear to cause it, and often we will have no apparent conscious reason for the presence of this unwanted guest in your mind and body. (Please note, I mean this only metaphorically!).

Sometimes a client will ask me to “get rid of it for me”.

This is usually where I reach for my ‘Magic Wand’. I’ll say something like:

“I do have a magic wand, but it’s broken; one end is missing, and most importantly it’s just a child’s toy.”

There are lots of Hypnotherapists, NLP Practitioners and Change workers who market that ‘as if by magic’ your problems will melt away after paying them various sums of money.
I’m not one of them though. While I have had clients who have experienced rapid results and change, I like to err on the side of caution, as I’m not a betting man.

I also believe in helping clients realised that they have a great deal more control and power over their problems and their ability to get rid of them than they currently recognise. All I do is talk and run different mental processes with clients, it’s them that actually ‘does’ the change. These include the use of IEMT –  Integral Eye Movement Therapy, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) or Hypnosis, the primary tool of any Hypnotherapist. Often I’ll do a mixture of any or all of them, depending on the client’s response to different approaches.

But again, it’s you, the client who actually changes yourself in response to the above (most of the time).

So in closing, allow me to ask you a couple of questions.

  • If you’re a sufferer of Anxiety, what do you believe about your OWN ability to get rid of the problem?
  • If you do have the ability to get rid if it, what help will you need bringing these skills out of yourself with the help of someone like me?
  • What will it mean about you as a person to be capable of changing the way you want to?
  • What are you prepared to do, and who are you prepared to be to get rid of your problem?
