It's a lovely video isn't it.

It's also a lovely motivational sentiment, full of encouraging statistics about the lack of danger and chance of fear causing things happening.

Sadly, it's unlikely to improve a fearful situation much. Certainly not irrational fears at least.

Trying to use rationale to fix something irrational is by definition "illogical" – to quote Star Trek's Spock.

It's like usine a squid as a sunshade. It's so very unlikely to work! This is when methods like Hypnotherapy (i.e. Hypnosis used in a therapeutic context) and IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy) can be so useful.

Because they work on things 'under the bonnet' that you won't have conscious access to yourself.

Clients often report a sense of confusion when the fear or negative thing that was holding them back is either totally gone or considerably lessened, in a much shorter time frame than you'd imagine.

There sees to be a VERY brief period of readjustment for the client as they get used to the fact that that thing has gone, and no amount of trying to get it back is working.

After this, an odd thing happens, so my clients report  back to me. They often tell how the time when they were going through the bad patch almost 'seems like a dream' (albeit a bad one) and somehow doesn't feel quite real.

I find this psrticularly interesting, as it points to just how flexible our perception of reality can be.
